A momentous chapter in its history unfolded on December 17th, 1906, when the venerable Dr. DADABHAI NAOROJI graced the occasion to inaugurate the very first flagship store. This historic establishment was nestled within the iconic Times of India Building, situated on the bustling D.N. Road in Mumbai.
In 1938, a significant shift transpired as the company relocated to its current prestigious address on the renowned Sir Pherozeshah Mehta Road. The year 1963, however, etched an indelible mark in the annals of this esteemed organization’s history. It achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first-ever retail entity to secure a coveted listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Henceforth, it assumed the distinguished identity of Bombay Swadeshi Stores Ltd., a name synonymous with innovation, excellence, and resilience in the realm of retail.
