His battle with tuberculosis led him to explore ancient Oriental feet treatments like ‘take-fumi’ (walking on bamboo shoots) and ‘soku-sin-do’ Japanese acupressure. The transformative impact on his health inspired him to infuse these ancient healing principles into traditional Japanese footwear designs.
In 1965, Kenkoh, the first massage sandal, was born. Today, the Yamanashi family continues this legacy, crafting Kenkoh with unparalleled craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, all to promote holistic well-being and happiness.
