About the Business

About Us:We extend a cordial invitation to your esteemed organization to become a part of the KENKEN International Championship 2020, a unique Mathematical Puzzle competition that paves the way for your child’s aspirations on the international stage, right in the heart of New York.

Recognized by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), USA, as a powerful tool for fostering problem-solving skills, perseverance, and mathematical aptitude in children, KenKen puzzles are a proven method to make the fundamentals of mathematics an enjoyable endeavor.

Our championship elevates this concept to the next level, challenging students to push their limits and compete against their peers. The culmination of this competition will take place in New York this December 2020, as we embark on a quest to identify the next KENKEN Champion who will proudly represent INDIA on the global stage.

We believe that together, we can nurture champions who will stand as proud representatives of our nation and school.

What is KENKEN?

KenKen, also known as Kashikoku-Naru-Puzzle in Japanese (which translates to a puzzle that makes you smarter), is a numerical logic puzzle invented by Tetsuya Miyamoto, a renowned Japanese mathematics teacher born in 1959. Miyamoto developed KenKen in 2003 with the aim of enhancing his students’ calculation abilities, logical thinking, and patience.

His puzzle series has garnered immense popularity, with over 1.5 million copies sold in Japan. KenKen puzzles have been introduced to the world, translated into numerous languages including Korean, Thai, German, French, Czech, Mandarin Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Slovene, Spanish, Portuguese, and Icelandic. KenKen made its debut in The Times (London) in March 2008 and in the New York Times in February 2009. The first U.S. KenKen tournament took place in March 2009 in Brooklyn, with Miyamoto himself in attendance.

Miyamoto, an alumnus of Waseda University in Tokyo, has left an indelible mark on education. He began his career as an instructor at a university preparatory cramming school in Yokohama and later founded his own school, Miyamoto Sansuu Kyoushitsu (Miyamoto Math Classroom), in Yokohama in 1993. He introduced a unique teaching methodology called The Art of Teaching Without Teaching, which has revolutionized education. In 2015, he established Miyamoto Mathematics Inc. in Manhattan, where he continues to teach KenKen to children.

Miyamoto is a prolific author with over 180 books in Japanese to his name. His teaching methodology book, Kyouikuron, has sold over 100,000 copies, and he has created the Kashikoku-Naru-Sansuu series consisting of 96 math problem books that scaffold learning progressively.
