With our origins tracing back to the vibrant city of Tamade in Osaka, we embarked on this gastronomic journey in 1946, becoming a beloved culinary brand cherished by the people for over seven decades.
Botejyu’s journey began as a humble establishment in Tamade, Osaka, and our restaurant name has been revered as a registered trademark for over 60 years. The name ‘Botejyu’ derives its essence from the rhythmic cooking sounds of okonomiyaki, the dish we hold dear to our hearts. The first part of our name, ‘bote,’ pays homage to the delightful sound produced when an okonomiyaki is expertly flipped with a metal spatula, capturing the essence of our culinary craftsmanship. The second part, ‘jyu,’ symbolizes the harmonious sizzle of okonomiyaki on the teppan grill. This delicious sound remains a cherished tradition at Botejyu, as we continue to prepare each and every okonomiyaki with unwavering care and passion.
Our legacy is not limited to the heart of Osaka alone, as we ventured into the licensing system in 1979, expanding our presence to locales such as Hawaii, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines. Although we faced challenges due to shipping issues with our Hawaiian venture, we have thrived in the Asian market, leaving an indelible mark in places like Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.
