About Us:
In response to the recognized need for systematic research to advance Indian Systems of Medicine, including Homoeopathy, the Government of India took a pivotal step by establishing the Central Council for Research in Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy in 1969. This autonomous body operated under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and conducted pioneering scientific research in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Yoga, and Homoeopathy until 1978. Throughout this period, Naturopathy was overseen directly by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
In March 1978, the composite Council was dissolved, paving the way for the formation of independent Research Councils, each dedicated to Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Homoeopathy, and Yoga & Naturopathy.
The Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy emerged as a Registered Society on March 30, 1978, with the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare serving as the President of the Governing Body. As an autonomous organization, it operates under the newly created Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is fully funded by the Ministry for all its activities. Since its inception, the Council has been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at the development of these systems, encompassing research, education, training, and propagation.
